Why should this app be trusted with personal information?

Does Apple guarantee that this app does not allow a third party to have access to the “encrypted” information entrusted to the app? How can anyone guarantee the people who wrote the app did not also include a way to gain access to the information on the app? Is the code available for third party testing? Does apple do anything like that before they approve this app? Ive used the app for a few weeks now (as an alternative to life lock). It does take pictures of cards and stores them. but I do not yet trust it to keep - for instance - my credit card information. Not sure how to trust any app -- or device -- anymore with personal data.
